Kahant Lamp Recycling Program Dear Valued Customer,
We have decided that we will be changing our Lamp Recycling Program that we have offered our customers since 2005. Based on current Safety Regulations put into place by the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, we felt that it would be in everyone’s best interests to make some changes to the way our program operates. We had in place when we started our program the ability to offer free containers for spent lamps, ballasts, batteries, and compact fluorescent lamps. Over the past few years the company that we had been using to process the items has changed their policy to us, and is now charging us for these containers. On top of that, we also have been assessed freight charges, and other fees from the Federal Government that we have had to add to the base costs of the recycled lamps. As of May 1st, 2011 Kahant Electric has entered into a business relationship with a major Recycling Company in the United States, Veolia Environmental Services. By going with Veolia we now offer our customers a much more seamless process to their recycling needs going forward. With our new program, your Outside/Inside Salesman at Kahant Electrical Supply will have pricing information available for our Recycling Program. We did a cost comparison on our old fee rates for recycling and compared it to the fees from Veolia, and basically the costs to our customers will remain the same while making the program itself much easier to manage for both parties. The Program will consist of Kahant Electric having lamp boxes for 4’ linear lamps, 8’ linear lamps, compact fluorescent lamps, batteries, and ballasts at our location with prepaid labels attached to the boxes. As you need boxes or containers, you will purchase them from us at a discounted price level. We will ship them to you on our truck. Once they are filled at your site, all you need to do is tape them shut, and call the phone number on the label. FedEx will pick the box or container from you and ship it directly to the processing center. You will then be sent a Certificate of Recycling directly from Veolia with the contents of your box or container listed on the certificate for your records. In the case of large volumes of lamps, or electronic scrap such as computers, and monitors, we will have available a large pallet that can handle a big quantity of lamps or many computers. This pallet again will be prepaid and be able to be picked up by FedEx and transported to the processing facility.
